Small fade animations have been added for the portraits of the characters.

🔧Our developer has added a new tool that will make it much easier to add dialogs!

💬With this tool, it is possible to import dialogues, write them easily, change the side portraits (left/right), etc.

2024 07 22 - Image/sprites editing steps for our videogame

 

Development of GoldenEarth is progressing well!✌️

Lorhus has finished coding the majority of the gameplay prototype⚙️. But most of the content is still missing!😓 There is still a lot of art to be made.

Meanwhile, here is a short video of the steps for editing a drawing for GoldenEarth! The same steps have to be done for each sprite. Bear in mind that every sprite in the game is handdrawn with a pencil✏️

New animations are in progress (for a new creature, the Beemur🐝, and new adorable emotions for the Tetramster!🐹)

Devlog 2024-06-26 - UI tool for level building Godot4 - change sprites colors ans sizes easily

 

🧩Building levels is always a tedious task... 😵‍💫

So Lorhus made a tool in Godot4 to speed up the process. “ It doesn't seem like a lot, but in GoldenEarth, everything is a 3D node, with a sprite hidden inside it. ☝️

📽️ So this simple UI to edit the sprite directly will surely save dozens of hours when creating maps ! 💨

GoldenEarth now has a system to have items in inventories right at the start of a scene🤲, which will be very useful for when we implement saving! (Because you wouldn’t want to lose your inventory with every load, right?!)😉

Oh and look who appeared in the game: Kortinarius!🦡🍄

For now it has no animation😪

⏩The day/night cycle time (and video speed) has been accelerated.

Like the sprites of GoldenEarth, @n_clmente (on Instagram) uses a grey pencil and its unique style to create new works!✏️

Small bonus, on site we met an independent music group with whom we could perhaps collaborate, business to follow!🎼🎸

Devlog - Contextual actions on Godot4

💬 We give the floor to our developer about the contextual action on Godot!💻

“One thing I did recently for GoldenEarth was improve our contextual actions system.

Like in many other games, Balzane can do certain actions when standing near objects. And although instinctive, it's not as trivial as it seems.

Before, the behaviour was really bad. Once you performed an action for left click, other objects nearby had to be re-approached to give the action.

Now, I made it so you have a queue of left click actions waiting after the first one, in order of priority.

It's still not done yet, and it raises other design-specific questions. The caravan for example gives Balzane 4 different actions already, and some of them still overlap and are not clear visually.”
